Planes of Existence (We May Never Pass This Way Again)
Rusted metal window frames, a ceramic insulator and a broken roof slate, all found on the William E Scripps
Estate, comprise an installation based on the transitory intersection of two entities and the narrow encounter
of yet a third.
Time and Light
This eight-foot cedar pole totem doubles as a sundial. The hues and design
of the pole represent the Pewabic tiles inside the Mansion while the
protruding dowels symbolize the Mansion's spiral staircases the breakup of
white light into a spectrum. Found bricks mark the hour positions of the
totem from eight in the morning to eight at night. Timekeeping is accurate
only for the month of July.
Nest or Hive
A length of aluminum cable was unwrapped and the individual wires were balled around two
dozen pine comess, then sprayed with white, black, fluorescent green and red paints.
